Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception

The photos speak for themselves. What a place. We were stunned. How did it take us so long to discover this DC architectural-ecclesiastical marvel? The Basilica is the tenth largest church in the world and largest Catholic church in the U.S. It's adjacent to the Catholic University campus and an easy stroll from the Metro. We spent Kris's birthday (June 5th) wandering to some new sites around the city and this one was the easily the main highlight.

On campus, near the Basilica.

The Basilica, more huger than it looks.
