As part of the cherry blossom celebrations, the annual kite festival on the Washington Mall is not to be missed. Hundreds of kites in all directions filled the breezy blue sky on a perfect spring day at the end of March. We just sat and watched and scarfed down sandwiches this year, fully entertained by the countless shapes and sizes of kites and other soaring things fluttering above us. Maybe we’ll fly our own next year!
