I spent a week in WA mid-August and hoped to ascend several
new summits, including something requiring a rope (above). Two friends and I,
on our way to climbing Witches Tower, stopped at famous Castle Rock outside of
Leavenworth WA and enjoyed a quick scramble to the summit. But I had been here
many times before, back when we used to come to this pretty place for weekend
rock climbing adventures. It was a good leg stretcher after three hours in the
car, gleefully followed by juicy burgers and brew at Gustaf’s in Leavenworth.
