On the way home from Tibbet Knob (below), we detoured
through Edinburg VA and followed the Fort Valley Road north to access a side
road off a side road leading to Woodstock Tower. A very short walk led to the steel
view tower and good ganders east and west. I had intended to hike up the trail
from below, which would have been a 600-foot ascent in one mile, in order to
claim credit for a new summit. Lamentably, we missed the trail and ended up parking
at the top, leaving us a gain of maybe twenty feet. So, I'd better not count that
one, although I may have to if I come up short in early 2014, the deadline by
which I hope to conquer my sixty new summits.
