Dyke Marsh (VA)
Close to our abode in Alexandria is the scenic nature trail
at Dyke Marsh. It’s less than a mile long and just off the Mount Vernon Trail.
It’s also known to be a great birding area, although most of the winged clans
were apparently chilling that day (September 1), resting up for fall migration.
We did see a cardinal, a couple of egrets and blue herons among others.
