After our lovely weekend getaway camping on the Delaware and Maryland beaches, we arrived back in DC to see all the damage from the June 29, 2012, Derecho. The enormous storm was brief, but ferocious. Trees were snapped off everywhere we looked. The automobiles rallied, but wind and gravity won the day.
