The family comes to DC

At the FDR Memorial.
In late March 2012, mom and three siblings, along with spouses and nieces from Utah and Arizona descended on Washington, DC, for a 10-day National Adventure.  Their timing with the cherry blossoms was totally perfect, even if the flowers all blew away in a wind storm on Day Two.  We got to enjoy them briefly anyway.  Highlights were the Capitol tour, a boatload of museums and monuments, Ford’s Theater, the Kennedy Center, some good eats, watching the airliners up close and personal at the end of the National Airport runway, and a trek out to Great Falls.  The highlight of all highlights was the drive to Philadelphia (which I missed because I got sick) to track down my older brother.  Odds were against it, but fate had the upper hand, and sure enough, they found our long lost brother up in Levittown.  Mom hadn’t seen him in 30+ years, so what a treat that was.  I’ve since reconnected with him also and it’s all good.  Mom had way too much fun in DC and wants to come back and see what she missed the first time.  We’ll try it again in 2013, but maybe a skosh later in the spring for some warmer weather.
