Arlington Cemetery

I’d learned at some point that one could bike a designated route through the Arlington Cemetery.  To reach it, you must pass through a Fort Myer security gate west of the cemetery before 6 pm.  Although we entered through the wrong gate, the guards were nice enough to point the way and we made it through in the nick of time.  The downhill glide is delightful, but for the somber setting of 400,000 graves.  We stopped near the Old Amphitheater and walked down to the Kennedy graves, then returned via the Civil War Unknowns.  We will return again soon for a more proper tour and to watch the widely touted Changing of the Guard.
